Vegetation Classification and Survey (VCS) got its first Impact Factor

The new bibliometric indices for Vegetation Classification and Survey released in May 2025.

We are glad to announce that Vegetation Classification and Survey (VCS) recently received its first Journal Impact Factor in the Web of Science, five years after its foundation. With a value of 3.0 it is well positioned among the traditional two journals of IAVS, Journal of Vegetation Science (2.7) and Applied Vegetation Science (2.6). With that, VCS is placed in the second quartile (Q2) of all its subject categories in the Web of Science.

Also, the new CiteScore from Scopus with 3.6 is satisfactory, with a significant increase from the previous value (2.5). According to the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) of Scopus, VCS is now placed in the first quartile (Q1) in all its subject categories.

Based on the citations already databased in the Web of Science and Scopus, we expect that both Journal Impact Factor and CiteScore will further increase in 2026. Thanks to all our editors, reviewers and authors who made this success possible and to IAVS for subsidizing the APCs of VCS during the first few years. We look forward to receiving more high-quality submissions in the fields of vegetation classification and ecoinformatics, the two strongholds of VCS.
