Palaearctic Grasslands 62 is published

The post was provided by Idoia Biurrun (Deputy Chief Editor of Palaearctic Grasslands)

This post refers to the new issue 62 of Palaearctic Grasslands, which you can read here.

This new issue includes the first calls for the 20th Eurasian Grassland Conference to be held in Oulu (Finland) from 7th to 10th July 2025, as well as the two planned Field Workshops in the Maritime and Ligurian Alps (Italy) (28th May to 5 June 2025) and the Turku Archipelago (Finland) (28th June to 6th July 2025). You can also read the report of the 19th Eurasian Grassland Conference held last summer in Bolzano and a call for new data for the GrassPlot database.

As usual, Palaearctic Grasslands is full of nice pictures of animals, plants, fungi, habitats and landscapes. This issue reports the results of the Photo Competition on “Neglected Grasslands”, and it also includes three beautiful photo stories from Ukrainian old cemeteries, the 19th EDGG FW in Ticino and dry pastures and meadows in Hailuoto Island (Finland).

Among IAVS and EDGG editorial activities this issue calls to contribute to a Special Collection “Vegetation classification of islands and archipelagos” in Vegetation Classification and Survey, and also announces that EDGG is seeking guest editor for its Special Features in Tuexenia.

To finish, the issue also includes a research article on the rediscovery of three annual species in Aosta and the discovery of Brachypodium distachyon for the first time in Piedmont during the 18th Field Workshop in Susa, Aosta and Durance valleys (Italy) last summer. This and previous papers highlight that intensive and careful vegetation sampling campaigns may bring additional scientific insights into the distribution of rare plant, lichen and animal species, and I would like to encourage more scientific papers informing on such floristic findings or other types of local studies to be submitted to the journal.

I wish you enjoy the coming winter holidays and that we all have a peaceful entry into the new year.
