VCS now included in Scopus
The post provided by Jürgen Dengler (on behalf of all VCS Chief Editors)
Vegetation Classification and Survey (VCS), IAVS’ gold open access journal, is now included in Scopus, the world’s most comprehensive literature and citation database. On 17 February 2022, the publisher and the Chief Editors have been informed that less than two years after journal foundation, our application was successful. The Scopus Content Selection & Advisory Board (CSAB) highlighted the very international composition of our editorial team and the fact that already now VCS articles are fairly well cited in other journals. This decision means that from now on VCS will get a CiteScore, and citations to and from VCS articles will be counted in Scopus (possibly also retrospectively). However, it will take a few weeks until this becomes visible in the respective databases. This positive decision is the yield of the investment made by the editorial team, publisher, reviewers, authors and IAVS during the initial years. We hope it will encourage more good submissions in the future and “pave” our way into the second important international citation database, Web of Science.
