The second Newsletter of the Vegetation Classification and Survey is out!

By Jürgen Dengler

With the VCS Newsletter No. 02, Vegetation Classification and Survey informs vegetation ecologists about the developments in the new IAVS journal.

Recently two more papers have been published, a classification of coastal grasslands in Eastern Australia (https://doi.org/10.3897/VCS/2020/48228) and in the Collection Ecoinformatics a Long Database Report presenting a new vegetation-plot database of the Kenyan coastal forests (https://doi.org/10.3897/VCS/2020/47180, see also the Plain language summary on our blog).

With 61 persons from 6 continents and 25 countries and a female fraction of 36%, the Editorial Team of VCS is unusually diverse for an international journal. This ensures topical and geographical competences to handle any article within the scope. We encourage you to submit your paper this year as then a strong reduction in article processing charges (APCs) will apply.

Moreover, we are also looking forward to proposals of Special Collections. The ongoing Special Collection on “Classification of grasslands and other open vegetation types in the Palaearctic” has extended the deadline for abstract submissions by one month until 31 July 2020.
